The aim of the multidisciplinary resarch project Women's Lives in Swedish Speaking Finland graduate studies.The project contriubutes to life history research and women's studies by analyzing the interaction between life and text from a feminist perspective.At the same time ethinicity is integrated into the questions of gender.The following themes are relevant to the project: 1) femininity, motherhood, work and ethinicity, 2) life story, autobiography, subjectivity and narrativity.Research is conducted on the collection "Women's Lives in Swedish Speaking Finland" which consists of 130 life histories, biographical and literary matrial.Firstly, the project provides a new understandig of the relevance of gender in a society charactarized by change, from several different perspecitves.Secondly, the research meets a need of theoretical and empirical knowledge of gender, identity and subjectivity as well as of the relevance of expiriences for welfare and helth from a gender aspect.
